openArchitectureWare.org

oAW has moved to Eclipse.

At this site you will find information about the outdated version openArchitectureWare 4, only.
Please read our letter of intent for further information.

XSD Adapter

The XSD Adapter enables oAW to use meta models defined in XML Schema (XSD) and thereby read and write XML files that are based on the schema.

Download & Install

The latest version is available at the oAW nightly build page. Download the org.openarchitectureware.xsd.feature-*.zip file, unzip it, and copy the contents of the plugins/ and the features/ folder to the corresponding folders of your Eclipse installation. The XSD Adapter is compatible with the oAW 4.3.0 release. You are not required to update your oAW to the latest nightly just to use the XSD Adapter. Older versions are available from build-archive, build-releases and bugzilla.

Documentation & Examples

The latest documentation is part of the XSD Adapter download. After installing it, look for openArchitectureWare XSD Adapter User Guide in your Eclipse help. An (not up to date) online version of the documentation is available here

The XSD Adapter comes with many examples. In Eclipse, go to new, examples, openArchitectureWare Examples using an XSD Meta Model. This is the recommended way to get into the details.

Important Changes

In case behavior of the XSD Adapter changes in a way that can have an impact on existing projects, it will be noted here:

  • 2008-11-26: EPackages that are generated from XSDs within a workflow are not registered globally automatically anymore, but it can still be enforced via configuration. For details see bug 254585
  • 2008-11-25: When converting names of XSD elements to Ecore elements, name-segments that are purely uppercase are made lowercase. This makes sure that upercased names like "MY-ELEMENT" are converted to camel case: "myElement". For details see bug 255494
