TietoEnator chooses oAW as a building block for its Autosar demonstrator
TietoEnator (www.tietoenator.com), one of the largest IT service consulting and development company in Europe, is working in different business areas including telecommunications, industry and manufacturing. Its automotive subdivision has identified AUTOSAR (www.autosar.org) as one of the emerging markets of the future. In order to demonstrate the know how TietoEnator has in that area, an exhibition demonstrator was developed as an eye catcher. It is built as an RC controlled model car with infra-red sensors which runs an AUTOSAR compliant application for collision avoidance.

One of the main building blocks of AUTOSAR is the need to generate code (the so called RTE) from an XML file defining the software components and their communication to each other. For this generation process the openArchitectureWare code generator was used based on an Eclipse EMF metamodel.
This combination was chosen because of it’s open source nature and good community support.
The tool chain proved to be successful, usable and right-featured for the mission, and so the demonstrator car was already to be seen on two exhibitions:
- 14. Handelsblatt Jahrestagung Die Automobilindustrie, December 12th - 14th, 2006 Frankfurt
- Embedded World 2007, February 12th - 15th 2007, Nuremberg, Germany
